Day 2 - Oct 17

Today was definitely a less exciting food day than yesterday, but Paleo nonetheless. Before I begin I'd like to make a quick shout-out to my commenters, readers, facebook "likers", etc. You have no idea how much your support means to me :)


This is what my typical weekday breakfast looks like, although my ratios vary each day: a piece of zucchini quiche, some crock pot meat, and a bunch of brussels with bacon. I like to have a full plate of food to really fill me up early in the AM and get me mentally and physically prepared for the long day ahead.


Typical lunch is more brussels spouts and bacon (can you say obsessed??). I usually add a couple hunks of the crock pot meat to the container, but I was ultra rushed this morning.

After work, the cross country team had their second to last home meet. I got home around 6 and was feeling delirious from lack of sleep last night - I only slept from 11-3 before getting up to finish my lessons for today and heading into work to make copies. I inhaled an apple pie flavored Lara Bar (I really need to have Sean hide these from me) and passed out face first on my bed. No CrossFit for me tonight.. I'll make up for it another day this week. Knowing that I still had more work to do tonight, Sean woke me up an hour later with dinner - Elevation Burger! He got me 2 plain (grass fed) burger patties with lettuce and tomato along with a side salad (romaine, carrots, and tomato with oil and vinegar dressing). In my excitement and continuing delirium, I forgot to snap a picture. But I DID resist the urge to snag some of Sean's fries or a sip of his soda. That brings me to now, sitting here with a cup of coffee with heavy cream, trying to get this work done ASAP so I can get back in bed. 2 days down... 28 to go!

Hang in there Kate...today I had a headache. I usually dont get headaches so I dont know if its from my detox or what. I also felt like absolute shit during my WOD, but more like mental shit not physical shit. Does that make sense? I just wasn't stringing together my reps I took long breaks, again not sure if it has something to do with the diet or what.

Oh and Im traveling doing Paleo, which means I packed my food for the week. Luckily the hotel Im at has a fridge and a stove so I can make dinner at night.

This is day 3 for me so 27 days to go...So far I can say I have been absolutely clean. I hope I can keep this up.

Anyone else feel like crap working out today?

Jill I feel your pain! I got a headache yesterday, into today and lasted all day today until I had a LaraBar. I confident it has to with sugar withdraw. Didn't realize how much sugar I really use until now. Real eye opener.
Kate, I think your doing great and I like the Blog. It's really motivating. Keep up the good work!

So I had my first brussel sprout EVER last week and I am in love!! I chopped them up and sauteed them with a little olive oil and a ton of garlic, salt and pepper and they were so delicious! I still have never had them whole like you have them here, do you just steam/boil them or what? They're the cutest little vegetable!

Jill, I give you major props for doing this while traveling. I'm sure it's not easy, you're doing great!!

Ariana - I use this recipe for my beloved brussels:

"In a large pot on the stove , boil about 3 or 4 cups of water, or about 1/2 container of No Salt Added chicken broth and a cup of water. While that is coming to a boil, chop off the extended ends of about 20 Brussels sprouts so that they are each oval shaped. Rinse and then plop them into the boiling water or broth. Lower to low heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes."
