Welcome to Kate vs Food!

Apparently I'm a blogger now and I'm really not sure where to start, so I will do what I do best: create an organized list!

How This Whole Thing Started
  • I'm not your average 23-year-old. Most of my time is spent either at work or doing work for work, and my "play time" is not at the bar; it's at the gym. At this point I wouldn't have it any other way... I am a perfectionist who needs to stay busy. Time spent relaxing just feels inefficient and wasteful.
  • I am an exercise fanatic, but I love food and consequently using it to deal with my stressful lifestyle.  After years of struggling to come to a balance, I have come to the realization that "you can't out-train a bad diet". I long to reach my full potential and be leaner, faster, and stronger.
  • Sure, I've seen the light a couple times. When I see results and feel good about myself I am much more positive, confident, outgoing, fun to be around, and just more comfortable being me. How do I make the results and feelings last?
Enter CrossFit and the Paleo Diet

  •  I tried a free CrossFit class, and immediately fell in love. The camaraderie I felt for just being there for an hour was unreal. I knew this was something I needed to be a part of. I will be starting officially in July, and am looking forward to having a community of genuine people around me who not only share and understand my passion for true health and nutrition, but can teach me more.
  • As I spent the afternoon researching every CrossFit detail on the internet, I of course read quite a bit about the Paleo diet. Once again, I decided almost instantly that this was for me. Why? It just makes sense. For those of your who are unfamiliar with the diet, I would start by checking out this infographic. To make things very clear:
          - Each meal on the diet should consist of vegetables, lean meats, and
             healthy fats.
          - Fruits and nuts/seeds are also allowed, but since weight loss is my goal, I
will be limiting my servings to one of each a day.
          - Foods not included: all grains and dairy, anything processed, all added
             sugars, legumes, starches, and alcohol.

What will I be blogging about?
  •  To be honest, I'm not sure yet. I have a feeling it will depend on how much time I devote to blogging. I want somewhere tangible to track my progress, hopefully keeping myself motivated and busy. I also want to keep a record of my meals, potentially with pictures of the finished products.
  • I know where I am now and where I want to be. Join me on my nutrition journey to become better.

Will CrossFit and the Paleo diet improve my performance? Will I be able to stick with it? Will it change my life? Hopefully

Am I excited about this new adventure? Definitely.

This is no way how I could ever live - BUT...I think it's awesome you're giving this lifestyle a go. It seems very fitting for you. I will definitely be reading your blog a lot.
Are you going to still stick to only chicken? Or will you venture in the world of other meats?

Hey! That is the diet my brother has been doing for a months now. He said he uses those websites you posted all the time. He has been working out, and he lost at least 20 pounds and feels healthier than ever! Pretty encouraging. I need to jump on this wagon and get healthy...I just can't imaging not eating CHEESE!
